Saudi University Donates 64,000 Books to Islamic Libraries in the Maldives

Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University of Saudi Arabia has donated 64,000 books to Islamic libraries in the Maldives, strengthening educational and research resources across the country.

The books were officially handed over today at a special ceremony held at the Islamic Centre. The donation was presented by the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, His Excellency Yahya Hassan Al-Qahtani, along with the University’s Director, Dr. Saleh bin Sulaiman Al-Araja. Receiving the donation on behalf of the Maldivian Government was the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

In his address, Minister Shaheem emphasized that the generous contribution reflects the deep-rooted brotherly relations between Saudi Arabia and the Maldives. He noted that the donation demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Maldivian students and researchers, while promoting knowledge and wisdom.

The Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and its Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in the Maldives. He also extended appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Government, and Embassy officials for their continued support.

Ambassador Al-Qahtani and Dr. Al-Araja also addressed the ceremony, reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s dedication to advancing Islamic education in the Maldives.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs presented a special commemorative document to the University in recognition of its valuable assistance.

The arrival of these books marks a significant milestone in the Ministry’s efforts to establish Islamic libraries nationwide, while also contributing to the fulfillment of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to expand access to Islamic knowledge and research.
