President Muizzu congratulates Maldives football team

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has congratulated the Maldives national football team competing in the South Asian Super Cup 2025 in Sri Lanka, praising their recent victory and encouraging them to continue their strong performance.
Speaking with the team’s coach, Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan), via telephone this morning, the President commended the players for their determination in yesterday’s match and urged them to maintain unity and national spirit throughout the tournament. He expressed hope that the team would strive for prestigious titles and bring further honour to Maldivian football.
Coach Shiyaz described the President’s call as a source of joy and added motivation for the players. He affirmed that, in line with the President’s encouragement, the team is determined to give their best and aim for the tournament trophy in the upcoming matches.
The Government has pledged to revive and develop football in the Maldives, with new facilities being established in Malé and across the atolls to strengthen sports development nationwide.
