Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced temporary parking restrictions at Hulhule’ Island, effective this week, as part of preparations for the official opening of the new Velana International Airport Passenger Terminal on 26 July 2025.

In a statement issued today, MACL outlined that parking will be restricted in both the East Side and West Side Parking Zones to ensure smooth operations and security arrangements ahead of the event.

Parking Restrictions:

East Side Parking Zone:

  1. No four-wheeled vehicle parking will be allowed from 17 July 2025 onwards.
  2. Vehicle owners are required to remove their vehicles by 17 July to avoid penalties.

West Side Parking Zone:

  1. Parking will be prohibited from 18:00 on 17 July 2025 onwards.

MACL confirmed that vehicles found in violation of these restrictions will be towed, with assistance from the Maldives Police Service.

The company stated that the date for resuming parking in the affected areas will be announced later.

MACL has apologised for any inconvenience caused and expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and understanding during the final stages of preparing for one of the most significant infrastructure inaugurations in the Maldives’ aviation history.
