Police Conduct Operation in Haa Alifu Baarah Over Sorcery Allegations

The Maldives Police Service has carried out a major operation in Haa Alifu Atoll Baarah in connection with allegations of sorcery. The operation, which took place early this morning, resulted in the search of eight locations and the questioning of eight individuals.
According to a police statement, the operation was launched at 7 am after receiving a tip-off from police intelligence. Officers seized various items believed to be associated with sorcery practices during the searches.
The eight individuals detained for questioning were later released, and no further arrests were made. The police have not provided additional details regarding the nature of the confiscated items, and the investigation is ongoing.
This follows a similar operation on February 20, when police searched 10 houses in Haa Dhaalu Atoll Kulhudhuffushi and recovered paraphernalia allegedly linked to sorcery. No arrests were made in that operation, and no further information was disclosed by authorities at the time.
