In a significant step towards advancing human resource development in the field of Islamic finance, the Maldives Zakat House has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia’s International Islamic University (IIUM).

The agreement was formalized today during a special ceremony at IIUM, where President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was conferred an Honorary Doctorate.

On behalf of the Maldives Zakat House, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Chairman of the Zakat House and Minister of Islamic Affairs, signed the MoU. Professor Dr. Osman Bakar, the Rector of IIUM, signed the agreement for the university.

The MoU sets the framework for collaboration on joint initiatives aimed at enhancing training and development of human capital within the fields of zakat and Islamic social finance. This partnership marks an important milestone in the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the Maldives Zakat House and further reinforce the nation’s zakat system, enhancing its role in community welfare and development.
