The family of 21-year-old Mariyam Yumnu Rasheed, the woman who sustained critical injuries after falling from a ninth-floor skylight in Malé City, has confirmed that arrangements have been completed to transfer her to Malaysia for further medical treatment.
Yumnu was found gravely injured on the rooftop of a warehouse in Henveiru at 7:23 a.m. on Friday, April 18. According to police, she fell from the ninth-floor stairwell skylight of H. Fentenoy, located in Buruzu Magu. While police say no evidence of foul play has yet been found, the circumstances surrounding her fall have sparked public outcry and nightly protests, with demonstrators demanding justice for Yumnu.
Moomin Maumoon, Yumnu’s brother-in-law and Power of Attornery , shared that all formalities with the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) have been completed. He added that the Maldivian government is assisting in arranging a chartered flight, and the family has been told to be prepared to depart at any moment — potentially as early as tomorrow.
While Yumnu’s exact condition remains undisclosed, she is still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). She had been on a ventilator but is now reportedly breathing on her own, though her condition remains critical.
Police investigations have uncovered that Yumnu was one of nine people at a party held at Ma. Maandhooge Dhekunuge on the night of the incident. The gathering reportedly involved drugs and alcohol.
The individuals present were:
- Raudh Ahmed Zilal, 21
- Izdhiyaan Mohamed Maumoon, 28
- Aishath Layaaly Iqbal, 22
- Yoosuf Ahmed Akram, 22
- Yoosuf Yassar Abdul Ghafoor, 28
- Aminath Junaina Jamsheed, 24

- Ijaz Jaiz, 24
- Mariyam Yumnu Rasheed, 21
CCTV footage shows four people — including Yumnu and Raudh — leaving Maandhooge around 3:40 a.m., heading to another house on Ameenee Magu, near STELCO. They left that house 10 minutes later, and by 4:15 a.m., Yumnu and Raudh were seen entering H. Fentenoy, where the incident occurred.
Police confirmed that Raudh was arrested on Thursday at 6:20 p.m. under a court order. Initially, only Raudh had a travel ban against him, but one has now been imposed on all attendees of the party.
