Kaimoo Reaffirms Commitment to Addu’s Development Amid Ongoing Infrastructure Discussions

Kaimoo Travels and Hotel Services Pvt. Ltd., the operator of Equator Village Maldives, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the development of Addu City, emphasizing the company’s deep-rooted presence and long-standing contributions to the southernmost atoll of the Maldives.

In an official statement, Kaimoo highlighted its more than two-decade presence in Addu, operating Equator Village under a valid lease agreement with the Ministry of Tourism, originally signed in 1999 and renewed in 2017. The lease encompasses the full resort compound — parts of which overlap with the proposed route of a major new road development project in Addu.

The company noted that the affected area houses critical operational infrastructure, including:

1. Staff accommodation and mess
2. Kitchen and laundry facilities
3. Garage and staff recreation zones
4. Guest squash court

“These facilities are essential to the resort’s daily operations and guest experience,” the statement read. “We believe that sustainable development in Addu must take into account existing infrastructure that contributes to the local economy and community.”

Kaimoo reiterated that it has maintained regular dialogue with the Ministry of Tourism and has proactively proposed solutions that would allow progress on national development goals while safeguarding vital resort operations.

“We are confident that through cooperation and mutual respect, we can find a resolution that benefits the community of Addu, the resort’s staff, and the broader tourism sector,” the company said. “Our priority remains to be a constructive partner in Addu’s growth story.”
