Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, held a productive meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the sidelines of the Fourth Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) 2025.

During the meeting, the two Ministers reflected on the outcomes of recent bilateral consultations and discussed pathways to enhance economic cooperation between the Maldives and Azerbaijan. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties through trade, investment, and collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly tourism and renewable energy.

The meeting was part of Minister Dr. Khaleel’s wider official visit to Türkiye to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, held from 11–13 April 2025 at the NEST Convention Centre in Antalya. His visit is at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, H.E. Hakan Fidan.

While at the Forum, Minister Khaleel participated in a high-level panel discussion titled “Geostrategic Dynamics in the Asia-Pacific”, where he shared the Maldives’ perspective on regional stability, climate change, and the importance of diplomacy in addressing global challenges. The panel was hosted in collaboration with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation of Japan and featured prominent regional experts, including Dr. Atsushi Sunami and Professor Jagannath Panda.

Minister Khaleel’s presence at ADF 2025 highlights the Maldives’ continued commitment to international engagement and multilateral dialogue, reinforcing the country’s voice on global platforms and its advocacy for the unique concerns of Small Island Developing States. Throughout the Forum, he is also scheduled to meet with several of his counterparts from friendly nations to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations.
