FM Dr. Khaleel Participates in High-Level Panel at the Fourth Antalya Diplomacy Forum

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, took part in the Fourth Antalya Diplomacy Forum today, following an invitation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Hakan Fidan.
During the Forum, Minister Dr. Khaleel contributed to a high-level panel discussion titled “Geostrategic Dynamics in the Asia-Pacific”. The panel also featured Dr. Atsushi Sunami, President of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and Professor Jagannath Panda, Head of the Stockholm Centre for South Asian and Indo-Pacific Affairs. The session was hosted in collaboration with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation of Japan and brought together leading voices on Asia-Pacific regional dynamics.
In his remarks, Minister Khaleel shared the Maldives' perspective on the evolving geopolitical environment in the Asia-Pacific region. He emphasized the need for sustained diplomatic engagement to address emerging global challenges, highlighting climate change as a critical issue that poses existential threats to Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Minister Khaleel stressed the importance of strengthening regional and multilateral institutions to effectively mitigate tensions and promote cooperation. He also underlined the strategic importance of the Maldives' geographic position, noting that the nation's security, prosperity, and development are closely linked to regional peace and stability.
The Antalya Diplomacy Forum serves as a key platform for dialogue on pressing international issues, and the Maldives' active participation reflects its commitment to global peacebuilding, multilateralism, and proactive foreign policy engagement.
