Maldives’ national airline Maldivian has announced special flights to Malaysia later this month, catering to the growing number of Maldivians currently residing in or traveling to Kuala Lumpur.

The airline will operate flights between Malé and Kuala Lumpur on May 27, 29, and 30. Outbound flights from Malé to Kuala Lumpur are scheduled for May 27 and 29, while return flights from Kuala Lumpur will be conducted on May 27 and 30, according to the airline.

The special fares are among the most affordable currently available on the route:

  1. One-way fares from Malé to Kuala Lumpur:
  2. One-way fares from Kuala Lumpur to Malé:

These prices are considerably lower than those offered by other carriers operating between Malaysia and the Maldives.

Passengers traveling in Economy Class will be entitled to a 30 kg baggage allowance, while Economy Flex passengers can carry up to 40 kg of checked baggage.

The flights will be operated using Maldivian’s Airbus A330, the wide-body aircraft recently added to the airline’s fleet and currently utilized for long-haul routes including direct flights to China. Flights will depart from Velana International Airport (VIA) and land at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The move has been welcomed by the Maldivian diaspora and frequent travelers between the two countries, especially given the limited availability of affordable direct flights on this route.
