Maldivian Doctors Gain Internship Opportunities at Five Foreign Hospitals

Maldivian doctors now have the opportunity to complete their medical internships at five additional foreign hospitals, the Ministry of Health announced today.
The ministry also stated that efforts are underway to increase internship opportunities within local hospitals. Arrangements are currently being made to facilitate internships at government hospitals across the Maldives.
Due to limited local opportunities, many Maldivian MBBS graduates have historically pursued internships in Bangladesh. Previously, medical internship placements were available only at Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Now, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Health Ministry has confirmed internship opportunities at five more medical colleges in Bangladesh:
- Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College
- Mymensingh Medical College
- Rajshahi Medical College
- Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogura
- Cox's Bazaar Medical College
The ministry noted that all five institutions are recognized by both the Maldivian and Bangladeshi medical and dental councils.
Maldivian medical graduates interested in applying for internships at these hospitals can submit their requests via email to [email protected].
