The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) is making a significant impact at ITB Berlin 2025, one of the world’s leading travel trade shows, taking place from March 4th to 6th at Messe Berlin. With a strong delegation of 200 tourism industry stakeholders representing 89 companies, MMPRC aims to solidify the Maldives’ status as the most preferred holiday destination for German-speaking and global travelers.

The Maldives is being showcased at a 504-square-meter double-decker stand, designed to highlight the destination’s natural beauty and diverse tourism experiences. The stand features dedicated meeting areas across ground and mezzanine floors, a VIP meeting room, a photo backdrop, and a 360-degree photo booth. A traditional corner at the information counter further enriches the visitor experience. The stand serves as a hub for networking, distributing tourism information, and hosting meetings with trade partners and media representatives.

As part of the event, Visit Maldives hosted an insightful seminar, “The Next Chapter of Maldives Tourism – Berlin Edition”, focusing on government and industry-led initiatives to explore new market segments, increase bookings, and promote sustainable tourism.

Strengthening Ties with German-Speaking Markets

MMPRC’s participation in ITB Berlin 2025 is pivotal in strengthening relationships with top tour operators, travel agents, and media outlets in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. One-on-one meetings provide co-exhibitors with opportunities to promote a variety of Maldivian tourism products, including luxury resorts, liveaboards, guesthouses, diving experiences, and family-friendly holidays. The Maldives’ sustainability efforts and eco-conscious travel experiences are a major focus, aligning with growing demand from German-speaking travelers.

Germany remains one of the Maldives’ most crucial source markets, contributing 157,246 arrivals in 2024, ranking fourth globally. Switzerland and Austria added 41,062 and 29,425 arrivals, respectively, securing places in the top 20 source markets. By the end of February 2025, arrivals from these countries totaled 14,119 (Germany), 4,401 (Austria), and 5,399 (Switzerland). Following the milestone of welcoming over two million tourists in 2024, MMPRC is maintaining momentum through strategic partnerships, PR campaigns, and collaborations with leading travel operators like TUI and DER Touristik.

Expanding Market Presence Through Strategic Campaigns

In 2025, MMPRC has launched various promotional activities to enhance brand presence and attract more tourists from German-speaking regions. Key initiatives include:

  1. Collaboration with Edelweiss Airlines – Sponsoring a raffle at Art on Ice in Switzerland.
  2. Advertising at Berlinale & IMM Germany – Increasing visibility among high-profile audiences.
  3. Ongoing taxi advertising campaigns – Enhancing brand awareness in key European cities.
  4. Visit Maldives Week in Munich, Frankfurt, and Zurich – A series of marketing events to engage with travel partners and consumers.
  5. Press trips for top-tier journalists – Bringing influential media representatives from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to experience the Maldives firsthand.
  6. Webinars and joint campaigns with OTAs, TOs, and premium consumer brands – Strengthening online and offline promotional reach.
A Bright Future for Maldives Tourism

Through its strong presence at ITB Berlin 2025, MMPRC continues to position the Maldives as one of the safest and most desirable holiday destinations in the world. By fostering industry collaborations and engaging in innovative marketing efforts, MMPRC aims to drive continued growth in arrivals from German-speaking markets, further strengthening the Maldives’ global tourism footprint.
