The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced an exciting new Ramadan campaign, ‘Eh Gein Aneh Geah’ (translated as ‘From One House to the Other’), aimed at fostering generosity and community support in Hulhumalé.

This unique initiative encourages households to donate discarded but still usable items, such as furniture and electronics, to neighbors in need during this season of renewal and giving. The campaign will run from February 1 to February 16, with HDC managing the logistics to ensure the donated items are efficiently collected and redistributed.

A Season of Renewal and Generosity

Ramadan is a time when many Maldivian households replace or upgrade furniture and appliances. HDC highlights that this campaign is an opportunity for people to turn their discarded items into gifts for families who may not be able to afford them.

The initiative aims to:

  1. Promote a sense of community by fostering neighborly kindness.
  2. Encourage sustainable practices by repurposing usable items.
  3. Support families in need by providing access to essential household items.
Participation Details

All Hulhumalé residents are encouraged to participate in the campaign. Donors can offer items such as used furniture and electronics, provided they remain in good working condition.

HDC has assured that it will handle the logistics of moving donated items from homes to their recipients. If items remain unclaimed by the end of the charity period, they will be distributed based on the needs of the community.
