Velana International Airport celebrated a significant milestone today with the arrival of its inaugural chartered scheduled cargo flight operated by AFCOM from Chennai, India. The flight, carrying 20 tonnes of cargo, is a major step towards bolstering the airport's position as a key regional cargo hub.

This new service will operate three scheduled trips each week, further enhancing the airport's connectivity and capacity for handling international cargo. The cargo will seamlessly connect with an Etihad flight, reinforcing the efficiency and global reach of the Maldives’ logistics network.

The introduction of AFCOM's chartered scheduled cargo flights marks a new chapter for Velana Airport, aiming to strengthen trade links and drive economic growth in the region. The airport continues to prioritize its expansion and development to accommodate the increasing demand for air cargo services.
