Tourist Security and Safety Enhancement Program Concludes Successfully in GDH

The "Tourist Security and Safety Enhancement Program 2024" has concluded in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, aiming to strengthen safety measures and improve the quality of services in the local tourism industry. The program ran from November 17 to 21, targeting key stakeholders and facilities in the region.
As part of the initiative, police teams visited nine islands offering tourist services to inspect safety and security measures. Following the inspections, recommendations were shared to address identified shortcomings, ensuring that facilities meet safety standards and deliver quality experiences to visitors.
Special emphasis was placed on water sports safety, with police providing guidelines on preventive measures and essential safety precautions to minimize incidents during activities.
Meetings were held with local councils to address their concerns and explore collaborative solutions for enhancing tourism safety in the atoll. Information sessions were also conducted for Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Police, focusing on effective procedures for handling tourism-related cases, improving interactions with tourists, and ensuring comprehensive inspections of tourist facilities.
To further support emergency preparedness, a swimming and lifesaving skills program was conducted for tourism staff, equipping them with essential skills to respond to water-related emergencies.
The program was a collaborative effort between the Airport and Tourist Police and the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Police. Authorities praised the initiative as a significant step towards elevating tourism standards in the atoll, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience for visitors.
