Man arrested in Fonadhoo related to a drug case

Police have arrested a man and recovered drugs during a drug operation conducted in L. Maamendhoo and Fonadhoo.
One of the raids was carried out in Maamendhoo following intelligence inputs that drugs were being smuggled into the island. During the raid conducted on March 12, police recovered seven cellophanes, suspected to be drugs, from a tree on the island's port road and were seized. No arrests have been made so far in the case.
A 35-year-old Maldivian man was arrested from Fonadhoo on March 12 in connection with another drug case. He was arrested after police from Fonadhoo police station intercepted him while patrolling the island and found 11 rubber packets and a cellophane containing suspected drugs.
He was produced before the L. Fonadhoo Magistrate's Court and remanded in police custody for five days.
Both the cases are being investigated by the police.
