Fuvahmulah Hospital is set to begin offering CT scan services by the end of this month, marking a major step forward in improving diagnostic healthcare in the southern city.

According to the Ministry of Health, installation of the CT scan machine is currently in progress. The work is being carried out by biomedical engineers from the Ministry and the State Trading Organisation (STO), with technical assistance from the manufacturer of the equipment.

The CT scan project, which began in May 2023, involved a major renovation effort to prepare the hospital infrastructure. Econ Maldives Private Limited was contracted to carry out the necessary structural modifications under a project valued at over MVR 2.09 million.

To ensure smooth operations, staff training and recruitment of additional personnel are already underway. Hospital officials highlighted that CT scanning is one of the most in-demand services in Fuvahmulah, which has a population of more than 12,000 residents.

As part of broader development efforts, a new hospital building has also been completed, addressing previous space constraints and paving the way for the expansion of healthcare services on the island.
