Türkiye’s difficult run has continued into the UEFA Nations League, with three straight defeats leaving the team without a single point in Group A.
The campaign began with a narrow 1–0 defeat to France on September 25, with Kylian Mbappé scoring the only goal.
Things then got worse against Italy. Türkiye suffered a heavy 4–1 defeat in Bursa, with Barış Alper Yılmaz scoring Türkiye’s only goal while Italy found the net through Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Frattesi, Michael Kayode and Francesco Pio Esposito.
The nightmare continued on October 2 as Belgium defeated Türkiye 3–0. Kevin De Bruyne scored twice before Romelu Lukaku added Belgium’s third.
Türkiye are currently bottom of Group A, while France lead with seven points and Belgium have six.
The poor Nations League start comes after a disappointing World Cup campaign, leaving Türkiye facing a difficult period as they look to turn their fortunes around in the remaining fixtures.
Their next Nations League match comes against Italy on October 5, followed by Belgium and France in November.
