A man has tragically died following a road accident on the Feydhoo stretch of Addu Link Road, making it the second fatal accident reported in the Maldives today.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the accident was reported at 7:29 PM, involving a collision between a car and a motorcycle.
The victim has been identified as Ibrahim Siyad, 36, a resident of Feydhoo. He was immediately transported to the nearby health centre, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Following the incident, police arrested Mohammad Mahil Mumtaz, 23, of Gadha Fiori, who was driving the car at the time of the crash.
The motorcycle Siyad was riding sustained extensive damage, according to police at the scene. Further investigations into the cause of the accident are currently ongoing.
This marks the second road fatality reported today, following the early morning accident in L. Maandhoo that claimed the life of another young man.
