Dhiraagu celebrated a significant milestone in youth empowerment and skill development with the graduation of 19 apprentices from the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme 2024. The graduation ceremony, held in the capital, marked another successful chapter in the company's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative—the first and longest-running corporate apprenticeship programme in the Maldives.
The event was graced by Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu as Chief Guest, who was joined by heads of educational institutions, Dhiraagu board members, and senior management.
In his keynote address, Minister Dr. Shafeeu applauded Dhiraagu’s sustained efforts in developing employability skills among Maldivian youth, stating that the programme serves as an invaluable bridge between education and the job market. “This initiative continues to play a transformative role in preparing our young people for future challenges and opportunities,” he said.
Launched in 2009, the Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme has so far enrolled over 288 youth from across the country. It offers apprentices hands-on experience in multiple core business areas, both in Malé and Dhiraagu Regional Operations Centers, while also enhancing their soft skills through structured training modules.
Dhiraagu CEO and Managing Director, Ismail Rasheed, congratulated the graduates and welcomed the 16th intake of the programme, consisting of 20 new apprentices. He highlighted how several former apprentices have moved on to key positions within Dhiraagu and across various industries in the Maldives. “We remain committed to nurturing local talent and building a skilled, future-ready workforce,” he noted.
Under the guidance of Dhiraagu’s seasoned professionals, apprentices are mentored and trained through a comprehensive on-site learning experience designed to give them a head start in their professional journeys.
The ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of the graduates but also reinforced Dhiraagu’s ongoing commitment to youth development and national progress through corporate leadership in skills-building.
