President Highlights Rizhan’s Historic Para-Sports Achievement

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has highlighted the remarkable potential of Maldivian youth, including the historic achievement of para-swimming athlete Mohamed Rizhan, who won a bronze medal at the 2025 Asian Para Youth Games in Dubai.

Rizhan made history by securing the first-ever medal for the Maldives at the Asian Para Youth Games, finishing third in the 50m Freestyle (S10) event.

The bronze medal is also recognised as the first international medal won by a Maldivian Paralympic athlete, marking a major milestone for the development of inclusive sports in the Maldives.

Rizhan’s achievement reflects the determination, resilience and growing strength of Maldivian athletes competing on the international para-sports stage.

President Muizzu highlighted the accomplishment while emphasising the significant potential of Maldivian youth. Rizhan’s historic success is expected to inspire more young athletes and contribute to greater opportunities and recognition for para-sports in the Maldives.
