The Government Office/Company Badminton Tournament 2026 has returned after a nearly three-year break, with the competition making its comeback under the new leadership of the Badminton Association of Maldives.
The tournament, which was last held in 2023, featured 11 teams this year. The teams were divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
Police Club secured their place in the final after defeating the Ministry of Education, while STELCO booked the other final spot after overcoming Customs in their semi-final.
In the championship decider, Police Club produced a strong performance to defeat STELCO 4-2, securing the tournament title after an entertaining final.
The final was attended by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness Honourable Abdulla Rafiu, who later presented the championship trophy and medals to the victorious Police Club team.
The successful return of the tournament marks an important step for government office and company badminton, with the competition once again providing an opportunity for employees and organisations to compete and promote the sport.
