Manchester United Hold European Champions PSG to 1-1 Draw

Manchester United held European champions Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 draw in an entertaining pre-season friendly, producing a much-improved second-half performance.

PSG made a flying start, taking the lead in just the second minute through Ibrahim Mbaye, who finished after being set up by Dro Fernandez.

United responded strongly and levelled the contest in the 32nd minute. Bryan Mbeumo found the back of the net following an assist from Amad Diallo, bringing the score to 1-1.

The first half ended level, but United looked more dangerous after the break. Michael Carrick's side created several promising opportunities and controlled large periods of the second half, but were unable to find the winning goal.

Both teams made numerous substitutions as the match progressed, with the changes giving more players valuable minutes ahead of the new season. Neither side could break the deadlock, leaving the match to finish 1-1.

The draw comes after United's previous pre-season match against Atlético Madrid, where Mbeumo scored both goals in a 2-1 victory.

PSG, meanwhile, were looking to bounce back after their previous match ended in a 3-0 defeat to Spanish club Mallorca.

United's Road to the Premier League

Manchester United will next face Leeds United on 12 August, before taking on AC Milan on 15 August in their final pre-season preparations.

United will begin their Premier League campaign on 22 August, away against Hull City.

PSG's Upcoming Fixtures

PSG will return to action against Aston Villa on 13 August, before facing Lens in the French Super Cup final on 16 August.

With the new season approaching, both clubs will take plenty of positives from the 1-1 draw, particularly United's strong response after the interval.
