Second-Half Comeback Keeps Maziya Perfect

Maziya Sports & Recreation Club made it two wins from two matches in the 2026 Cup Winners' Cup, defeating Buru Sports Club 2–1 on Matchday 2 to move clear at the top of the standings with a perfect six points.
Buru SC stunned Maziya by taking the lead in first-half stoppage time when Areen Abdulla Ibrahim found the back of the net to give his side a 1–0 advantage at the break.
However, Maziya produced a strong response immediately after the restart. Ibrahim Aisam levelled the match in the 48th minute before Benjamin Thomas Kuku completed the comeback with the winning goal five minutes later, giving Maziya a 2–1 lead.
The match saw several bookings as both teams battled fiercely for the points. Maziya's Hassan Shifaz, Ibrahim Aisam, and Mohamed Aiham Anwar were shown yellow cards, while Buru SC's Abdulla Yaameen and Rilwan Waheed were cautioned, with Waheed receiving a second yellow card in stoppage time and being sent off.
The victory follows Maziya's opening 2–1 win over ODI Sports Club, while Buru SC suffered a second consecutive defeat after their heavy 5–0 loss to New Radiant Sports Club in the opening round.
After two rounds, Maziya lead the Cup Winners' Cup table with six points, while Buru Sports Club remain bottom without a point, leaving their hopes of reaching the final hanging by a thread.
