New Police Station Inaugurated in AA. Feridhoo to Bolster Local Security

A brand new, state-of-the-art police station has officially opened today in AA. Feridhoo, marking a major milestone in the ongoing efforts to expand public safety infrastructure across the atolls.

The facility was jointly inaugurated by the Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology, Ali Ihusan, and the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohamed, during a special ceremony held on the island. The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikury, senior executive police officers, Feridhoo Council President Anwar Sadath, local council members, officials from the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), and residents of the island community.

During the ceremony, Minister Ihusan hoisted the national flag while Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed raised the official Maldives Police Service flag.

To mark the occasion, Minister Ihusan presented certificates of appreciation to MTCC and the Feridhoo Island Council, recognizing their critical support and cooperation in bringing the infrastructure project to fruition. Following the official opening, dignitaries and community members participated in a commemorative tree-planting event within the station's courtyard.

The construction of the new police station was contracted to MTCC, with the foundation stone originally laid on August 19, 2025. Designed to function as a fully self-sufficient hub, the modern complex includes a dedicated administrative wing alongside an accommodation block for stationed personnel.

According to police authorities, the inauguration of the Feridhoo Police Station aligns with the government's broader strategic policy to move away from rented facilities and establish government-owned, purpose-built infrastructure for decentralized law enforcement operations across the Maldives.
