Sun Siyam Iru Veli, a premier property within the Privé Collection of House of Sun Siyam, has solidified its reputation as an industry benchmark for maritime safety, securing ten major accolades at the 3rd Life Saving Leadership Awards Ceremony. Hosted by the Maldives Swimming and Life Saving Skills Training School on May 17, 2026, the awards celebrate the resort's heavy investment in aquatic safety, lifeguard training, and emergency preparedness.

Headlining the resort's historic sweep was the Maldives Water Safety Excellence Award 2025, the highest honor presented at the ceremony.

A Sweep for Safety and Operations

The resort’s comprehensive approach to water safety earned it top honors across multiple organizational categories. In addition to the top excellence prize, Sun Siyam Iru Veli took home:

  1. The Pinnacle Resort Award
  2. Best Lifeguard Service Operation
  3. Sustainability in Lifeguard Operation Award
  4. Water Safety Education and Advocacy Award

These accolades highlight the resort’s success in weaving internationally aligned safety protocols into its premium vacation experience without compromising the warm, intuitive essence of Maldivian hospitality.

Individual Excellence Celebrated

The ceremony also cast a spotlight on the human element behind the resort's success, handing out individual leadership and performance awards to five key team members:

  1. Mr. Masdhooq Saeed (General Manager): Honored with the General Manager of the Year Award.
  2. Mr. Mohamed Athif Ibrahim: Recognized for Water Safety & Life Saving Training Leadership.
  3. Mr. Ahmed Shifau: Awarded the Supervisor Excellence Award.
  4. Mr. Ahmed Jamsheed: Presented with the Trident Excellence Award.
  5. Mr. Hassan Yousuf Adam Abbas: Named the Rising Star in Lifeguarding.
Redefining Industry Standards

Since establishing its dedicated, professional lifeguarding division in 2023, Sun Siyam Iru Veli has actively moved away from passive safety measures. Its current strategy combines proactive guest education and constant aquatic surveillance with rigorous, structured emergency response systems across all lagoon, ocean, and pool environments.

Speaking at the ceremony, Resort Manager Mr. Mohamed Najah emphasized that water safety must remain a dynamic, evolving priority for the local tourism sector.

“Water safety is incredibly important for resorts across the Maldives, where the ocean is such a central part of everyday life and the guest experience,” Najah remarked. “Moving beyond simply warning guests to be cautious, it is our responsibility to ensure our teams are properly trained, prepared, and confident in responding when needed."

Najah added that while the ten awards are a massive honor, the resort views this milestone as a baseline. The management plans to use this momentum to further upscale frontline training, aiming to continuously elevate the broader standard of aquatic safety across the entire Maldivian hospitality industry.
