Vaavu Diving Tragedy: Two Bodies Extracted from the Cave

In a major breakthrough, search and rescue teams have successfully extracted the first two bodies of the missing Italian tourists from deep inside an underwater cave in Vaavu Atoll.

The successful recovery was carried out during a highly complex joint operation involving the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard, local police, and foreign deep-sea diving experts. Authorities confirmed the two recovered bodies have been safely brought aboard the MNDF Coast Guard Ship Ghaazi.

Meanwhile, the high-risk operation remains active as specialized divers navigate the challenging underwater terrain to extract the remaining two victims from the cave system.
