HULHUMALÉ, May 6, 2026 – The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a dedicated shade structure for parents at Salahuddin School in Hulhumalé.
The agreement was signed today by HDC’s Acting Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Hassan Shaheed, and MIB’s Managing Director and CEO, Mufaddal Idris Khumri.
The initiative, launched under the CSR programs of both organizations, aims to provide a sheltered waiting area for parents who gather to collect their children from school.
HDC’s Role: Will provide the architectural drawings and technical designs for the structure.
MIB’s Role: Will manage the procurement of materials and oversee the physical construction of the facility.
The MoU spans a period of two years.
The new structure is designed to offer much-needed protection from the harsh sun and heavy rain, significantly improving the daily experience for parents in the Salahuddin School area.
"This project is a direct response to the challenges faced by parents during school hours. Providing a comfortable environment for our community is a key pillar of our social responsibility," noted an official from HDC.
HDC reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such community-focused projects under its social responsibility mandate to enhance the living standards and convenience of Hulhumalé residents.
