Car Explosion Near Red Fort in New Delhi Kills at Least Eight

At least eight people have been killed after a car exploded near the Red Fort in New Delhi, India, on Monday, according to police.
Local media reported that at least 11 others were injured in the blast, which occurred near the Red Fort metro station. Footage broadcast by Indian television channels and shared online showed flames and multiple vehicles engulfed in fire following the explosion.
Emergency services and police quickly arrived at the scene. Police spokesperson Sanjay Tyagi confirmed that the case is under investigation, noting that the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
Authorities have placed the Uttar Pradesh region on red alert in response to the incident. Provincial official Amitabh Yash told local media that all senior officials have been directed to tighten security at religious sites, sensitive districts, and border areas.
Police across Uttar Pradesh have been ordered to heighten patrols and conduct additional security checks as investigations continue.
