Angsana Velavaru’s Ahmed Zahir Named South Asia’s Best GM at SATA

Angsana Velavaru has announced that its General Manager, Ahmed Zahir, has been honoured as South Asia’s Best General Manager at the prestigious South Asian Travel Awards (SATA). The accolade celebrates Zahir’s exceptional leadership, vision, and decades of dedication to the hospitality industry.
With over 30 years of service in the Banyan Group, Zahir is the first Maldivian to be appointed General Manager in the company’s Maldives portfolio. His tenure has seen Angsana Velavaru achieve record-breaking revenue and Gross Operating Profit, while ensuring staff earned maximum incentives—a testament to his strategic foresight and inclusive leadership style.
Zahir’s impact extends beyond financial milestones, cultivating a culture of excellence and sustainability. Under his guidance, the resort has strengthened eco-friendly practices and earned global recognition, including multiple awards at Travel Trade Maldives, World Travel Awards, and Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025.
