MATATO Appoints Mohamed Bassam Adam as New CEO

The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has appointed Mohamed Bassam Adam as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
With over 20 years of experience in the Maldivian tourism and hospitality sector, Bassam previously served as Deputy Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation (formerly MMPRC). His career spans leadership roles in travel agencies, airlines, and destination marketing initiatives.
MATATO said the appointment was finalised after a selection process involving multiple candidates, with the Board unanimously endorsing Bassam for the role, citing his extensive experience and industry knowledge.
The CEO position became vacant following the resignation of former CEO Aminath Suzan.
