Operation HAECHI VI, coordinated by INTERPOL from April to August this year, has led to the recovery of more than USD 493 million in physical and virtual assets, marking a major milestone in the fight against cyber-enabled financial crime.

The Maldives Police Service played a key role, successfully pursuing one of the country’s largest cryptocurrency scam investigations during the operation.

Bringing together law enforcement agencies from 40 countries, the operation targeted crimes including voice phishing, investment fraud, romance scams, sextortion, money laundering tied to online gambling, business email compromise, and e-commerce fraud.

INTERPOL hailed the success as proof that funds lost to fraud can be recovered through international cooperation. Maldivian officers not only contributed to global investigations but also gained vital tools and expertise to counter cybercrime at home.

The Maldives Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to working with INTERPOL and partners worldwide to safeguard citizens from emerging cyber threats.
