CBHC25: India Edge South Africa in Shootout to Secure 5th Place Finish

Kulhudhuffushi City witnessed another dramatic clash at the Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship 2025, as India defeated South Africa 2–1 in sets to secure 5th place, leaving South Africa in 6th.

India started strong, edging the first half 15–14, with Aryan Brahmin (13 points) and Seetharaman Sakkaravarthi (10 points) leading their attack. South Africa, however, fought back bravely, taking the second half 14–12 thanks to solid contributions from Shaun Mpho Mokhine and Msimelelo Innocent Seti.

With the teams tied at one set each, the match was decided by a shootout. India held their nerve under pressure, outscoring South Africa 5–2 to seal the victory.

This result means India finish ranked 5th, while South Africa settle for 6th place in the inaugural championship.
