Housing Development Corporation (HDC) organized a series of activities to celebrate National Engineers Day, aiming to inspire young people to learn more about the field of engineering.
Yesterday evening, HDC participated in the Children’s Evening event held by the Ministry of Housing at Usfasgandu, Malé, where the corporation set up a special stall featuring interactive engineering-related displays. Children were introduced to bridge and survey equipment, given information about the Smartcom Tower project, and engaged through games that highlighted aspects of construction and engineering. Activities included assembling a computer and experimenting with a hydraulic water-powered JCB model.
In addition to the Usfasgandu activities, HDC also hosted a student tour in Hulhumalé last Thursday. A total of 32 students from five high schools took part in the visit, which showcased HDC’s ongoing development projects and engineering operations.
HDC said the initiative was designed to familiarize students with engineering and infrastructure development, while highlighting the crucial role engineers play in the country’s progress.
“HDC will continue to fully support such activities initiated by the government to encourage young people’s interest in engineering and development,” the corporation stated.
