President Establishes State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established a new state-owned enterprise, the State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation Limited, aimed at strengthening the nationwide supply and procurement of medicines, medical consumables, and equipment.
The corporation was formed under the authority granted to the President by Section 15 of the Companies Act (Act No. 7/2023). It will operate as a fully state-owned entity, with 100 percent of its shares held by the Government of the Maldives.
According to the government, the establishment of the corporation is part of wider efforts to ensure reliable access to essential medicines and improve efficiency in the healthcare supply chain across all islands.
