MACL Facilitates Special Arrangements for Hajj Departures from Velana International Airport

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has implemented special arrangements at Velana International Airport (VIA) to ensure the smooth departure of Maldivian pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
In close coordination with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Maldives Hajj Corporation, and relevant authorities, MACL is facilitating the departure of approximately 1,000 pilgrims scheduled to travel on four dedicated flights operated by Saudia Airlines and Maldivian. These flights are scheduled for departure on May 26, 27, and 29.
To ensure operational efficiency and seamless passenger movement during peak travel periods, MACL has introduced additional measures to streamline traffic management and enhance terminal services. Vehicle access to the international terminal area will be limited, with MACL staff on hand to assist pilgrims in navigating the terminal and completing check-in procedures.
Special facilities have been arranged, including dedicated waiting areas for families accompanying pilgrims and a designated photography area to commemorate this significant journey.
Furthermore, in support of the newly launched Makkah Route Initiative, MACL has established a dedicated immigration counter managed by Saudi officials at VIA. This initiative enables pilgrims to complete Saudi immigration formalities prior to departure, significantly enhancing the Hajj travel experience.
