In a continued push to bring banking closer to communities across the country, Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched self-service ATM facilities in 10 additional islands in Shaviyani Atoll under its "Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM" initiative. The move marks another milestone in the Bank’s mission to ensure that every inhabited island in the Maldives is equipped with essential banking services by the end of 2025.
Speaking about the expansion, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef stated that the program is centered on enabling accessible and community-focused financial services.
Shareef also highlighted the growing reliance on the Bank’s atoll-based ATM network, noting that over MVR 1.45 billion has been deposited via atoll ATMs in 2025 alone—an indication of the critical role these services play for communities outside the capital region.
This latest rollout under the "Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM" program further solidifies BML’s position as the nation’s leading financial institution, offering the widest banking reach in the Maldives:
- 39 branches across all 20 atolls
- 133 Self-Service Banking Centres
- 188 ATMs
- Agent Banking Services
- Advanced Digital Banking Platforms
The Bank continues to strengthen its digital infrastructure, ensuring customers have 24/7 access to a broad range of services—from cash withdrawals and deposits to transfers and bill payments—whether online or at physical service points.
With this strategic expansion, BML reaffirms its commitment to financial inclusivity and national development by bridging the banking gap between urban and remote island communities.
