President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated Media Fenda, a newly established facility aimed at enhancing media access to Government information. The inauguration ceremony was held this afternoon at the Media Fenda premises, strategically located opposite the President’s Office.
The initiative is part of the administration’s broader commitment to strengthening transparency and fostering closer collaboration between the media and Government institutions. Media Fenda is designed to serve as a central hub for journalists to receive timely news updates and official statements, particularly from the President’s Office and nearby Government bodies.
Managed by the President’s Office, Media Fenda will be operational on all official Government working days. Additionally, authorised journalists will have access to the facility 24/7, including public holidays, upon request.
Access to Media Fenda is strictly limited to registered Maldivian media outlets actively operating in the country, including newspapers, magazines, broadcasters, and other entities listed in the Maldives Media Council’s registry. Journalists seeking access must obtain a special permit issued by the President’s Office.
Given its location within the Green Zone, all relevant security protocols enforced by the security forces will apply to the facility.
The Government reiterated its dedication to improving information access, empowering media professionals, and creating opportunities for the professional growth of journalists across the country.
