Presidential Commission Launches Public Portal for Information

Ahmed Shurau
The Presidential Commission tasked with investigating the case of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who fell from a building in Malé on April 26, 2025, has launched a dedicated portal for the public to share any relevant information related to the incident.
In an announcement made through its new X account, the commission called on individuals who may have photos, videos, or other documents connected to the case to submit them through the e-Faas portal. The platform is also available for the public to ask questions and gain insights into the commission’s ongoing work.
Purpose of the Investigation
The commission was established by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding Yumnu’s fall. The commission’s objective is to uncover the truth and secure justice for Yumnu, who remains hospitalized in Malaysia after sustaining serious injuries from the fall.
Commission Composition
Originally formed with three members, the commission was reconstituted following the resignation of Dr. Mohamed Habeeb, an orthopedic surgeon. The current members of the commission are:
- Dr. Mohamed Munavvar, former Attorney General (Chair)
- Brigadier General (Retired) Ahmed Mohamed
- Dr. Moosa Murad
- Jabeen Mohamed
- Aminath Eenaas
Commission's Approach
During the commission's first press conference on April 30, Chair Dr. Mohamed Munavvar emphasized that the commission’s primary goal is to achieve justice. He clarified that while the commission’s mandate may seem broad, the focus is on ensuring that the investigation is thorough and comprehensive. The commission will initially review findings from the Maldives Police Service, which is also investigating the case, to prevent duplication of efforts.
The commission's creation follows the public's growing concern and questions surrounding the incident, especially regarding the events leading up to Yumnu’s fall.
