The Maldives Customs Service has seized 1.07 kg of cannabis, which was being smuggled into the Maldives via post.
According to Customs, the drugs were discovered during the inspection of a package that arrived yesterday. Initial testing confirmed that the substance found inside was cannabis.
The seized cannabis has an estimated street value of MVR 856,000.
Authorities have handed over a 52-year-old Maldivian man—who attempted to collect the package—to the Maldives Police Service, along with the confiscated drugs.
