President Meets Maamendhoo Council and WDC to Address Island's Key Concerns

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Maamendhoo Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Wednesday evening to discuss the island's pressing issues. The meeting, held at the Secretariat of the North Huvadhu Atoll Maamendhoo Council, highlighted residents' concerns and developmental needs.
The Council raised issues related to sanitation and coastal erosion and requested several projects to address the island's challenges. These included constructing a new office building for the Council, initiating a road construction project, and establishing a social center. The Council also proposed integrating Hulhimendhoo Island under Maamendhoo’s jurisdiction to enhance revenue generation. Additionally, they emphasized the need to upgrade the island’s health center to provide 24-hour service.
In response, President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his pledges and assured the Council that their concerns would be addressed. Cabinet Ministers accompanying the President provided updates on ongoing development projects in Maamendhoo, underscoring the Administration’s dedication to improving living standards on the island.
