Seven Foreign Nationals Detained in Joint Crackdown on Prostitution Networks: Two Deported

Maldives Immigration and the Maldives Police Service have successfully apprehended seven foreign nationals in a series of operations aimed at dismantling suspected prostitution networks. The operations, which took place between December 25 and December 30, 2024, led to the detention of four women and three men.
The arrested individuals include four Bangladeshi nationals: Taposhi Akter Pria (19), Md Sanjid Hossain (28), Abed Ali (43), and Sahin (31). They are currently being held in custody as deportation procedures are being processed.
In addition to the Bangladeshi nationals, two Russian women, Milana Batyrova (25) and Sofia Gaidukova (24), were among those arrested. Gaidukova has already been deported, while Batyrova remains in detention. A Ugandan national, Liz Mukasa (38), has also been deported.
Authorities have confirmed that the deportation process is ongoing for those still in custody. The crackdown is part of the government’s continued efforts to combat illegal activities and maintain safety and order within the country.
