The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned the burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza by Israeli forces, an attack that forced patients and medical staff to evacuate.
In a statement issued on December 28, 2024, the Maldives called the act a heinous violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law, describing it as a war crime. The Government emphasized that such attacks on vital healthcare facilities are part of the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people.
The Maldives urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take immediate and decisive measures to end Israel’s aggression in Gaza, protect the Palestinian population, and hold those responsible for these crimes accountable.
Reaffirming its steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Maldives reiterated its position that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement reflects the Maldives’ continued commitment to advocating for the rights of Palestinians and condemning acts of violence against civilians and critical infrastructure.
