President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has revealed plans to convert the Muliaage vehicle garage on Lily Magu into the “Zuvaanunge Third Space”, a dedicated hub designed to address the lack of venues for youth activities.
The initiative, approved during Sunday’s Cabinet meeting, stems from recommendations by Ministers and a proposal by the Minister of Construction and Infrastructure. The project will prioritize safety due to the area’s proximity to schools and heavy traffic, with a comprehensive traffic management strategy accompanying the transformation.
The Zuvaanunge Third Space will provide Maldivian youth with opportunities to enhance skills, express creativity, and foster community connections. Planned activities include:
- Boot camps and skill exchange programmes
- Virtual reality training and community art walls
- Culinary events and mental health initiatives
- Interactive workshops promoting personal and community well-being
The centre will also serve as an eco-friendly hub, featuring a cafeteria with healthy, locally inspired cuisine and a platform for small and medium food vendors to showcase their products.
President Dr Muizzu emphasized the importance of creating spaces that empower young people, nurture their potential, and promote community development.
This project highlights the Government’s commitment to youth welfare and underscores efforts to provide inclusive venues for recreational, educational, and social engagement.
