During a press conference held at the President's Office on Wednesday, Chief Spokesperson Heena Waleed emphasized that road safety remains a top priority for President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration.

The conference, which also featured the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, addressed key issues ranging from public safety to religious unity in the Maldives.

Heena Waleed highlighted the President's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of streets across the Maldives, including Malé, following recent traffic incidents. She pointed to the President’s recent social media post on X, where he outlined eight specific measures aimed at improving road safety, such as increasing police personnel, enhancing monitoring systems, and extending these efforts to outer islands. Waleed urged the public to respect existing road safety laws and stressed the importance of personal responsibility in preventing accidents.

Additionally, Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed provided updates on the Ministry of Islamic Affairs' initiatives, with a focus on maintaining religious unity as outlined in the government’s manifesto. He discussed ongoing projects such as the construction and maintenance of mosques, the development of the Maldives Hajj Corporation, and Waqf projects. The Minister also mentioned achievements in translating Islamic studies texts and establishing the Zakat House, which supports the management and distribution of Zakat in the Maldives.

Both officials responded to media queries during the press conference, underlining the government's efforts to safeguard public safety and uphold religious values.
