President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu highlighted the critical importance of a nation's mother tongue as its most valuable capital and the key to fostering a national culture. His remarks were made during the official National Day function held at Dharubaaruge today.
The President stressed that the mother tongue is not only a cultural asset but also a vital political force essential for a nation's survival. He described it as a powerful tool that has enabled the Maldivian people to maintain their independence and national identity.
In his address, President Muizzu called on citizens to use this year's National Day as an opportunity to recommit to prioritizing and preserving the local language. He emphasized that the use of the mother tongue in creating national cultures should align with Islamic principles.
The President also underscored that the foundation of patriotism lies in sacred religious practices and expressed his intention to strengthen religious adherence in the nation. He highlighted the establishment of the Zakat House as a step towards reinforcing the Zakat system.
