Colombo Security Conclave Member States Sign Charter and MoU for Secretariat Establishment

The Member States of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) signed the Charter and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the CSC Secretariat on August 30, 2024.

The signing ceremony, hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka, took place in Colombo.

Key representatives from the CSC Member States participated in the event, including Mr. Ajit Doval K.C., National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of India; Mr. Ibrahim Latheef, DC (Retd.), Lt. Col (Retd.), National Security Advisor of the Maldives; Mr. Haymandoyal Dillum, High Commissioner of Mauritius to Sri Lanka; and Mr. Sagala Ratnayake, National Security Advisor to the President of Sri Lanka. These officials signed the documents on behalf of their respective nations.

The CSC's primary objective is to enhance regional security by addressing transnational threats and challenges of common concern to its Member States. The CSC's cooperation is structured around five key pillars: Maritime Safety and Security; Countering Terrorism and Radicalisation; Combating Trafficking and Transnational Organised Crime; Cyber Security and Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Technology; and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.

The event concluded with a discussion among the heads of delegation, focusing on the next steps and future activities of the Conclave, as the Member States committed to strengthening their collaboration on these critical security issues.
