President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his heartfelt felicitations on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, which was inaugurated on August 30, 2018. The President's remarks were shared via a post on the social media platform 'X'.

In his message, President Muizzu highlighted the bridge as a "remarkable feat of engineering" that not only physically connects the islands of Malé, Hulhulé, and Hulhumalé but also serves as a powerful symbol of the enduring partnership and mutual trust between the Maldives and China. He emphasized that the bridge stands as a testament to the shared vision of progress, unity, and prosperity that both nations continue to uphold.

The China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, also known as the Sinamalé Bridge, is a landmark infrastructure project that has significantly enhanced connectivity and economic activity between the islands. The bridge was built with financial and technical assistance from China, reflecting the strong diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and China were formally established on October 14, 1972. Over the years, the relationship has grown stronger, with both nations collaborating on various developmental projects, including the construction of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge.

As the bridge marks its sixth anniversary, it continues to be a symbol of the fruitful cooperation and enduring friendship between the Maldives and China, fostering further development and mutual prosperity for both nations.
