STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy has revealed that the highest electricity consumption so far this year occurred last Thursday, as the Maldives experiences a particularly hot season.
In a post shared on X, Fahmy stated that the highest electricity usage in the Male' area for 2024 was recorded at 3:00 PM last Thursday, with 114 megawatts of electricity consumed. He further noted that today, at 1:00 PM, the electricity load in Male' had reached 111 megawatts.
Fahmy emphasized the importance of being mindful of electricity consumption, especially during this hot period, and urged the public to use electricity only as much as necessary. "It's very important for the community and personal benefit for all of us to be aware of this and do what we can individually to economize electricity," he said.
As temperatures rise, STELCO continues to monitor electricity demand and urges residents to take steps toward reducing consumption to help manage the grid's load effectively.
