MALE, Maldives – The National Awards Committee has officially opened nominations for the prestigious National Award for Public Service for the year 2026. The criteria and guidelines for the award were published in the Government Gazette today.

The National Award for Public Service is the highest honor bestowed by the President to recognize the dedication of long-serving state employees. To be eligible, nominees must have completed at least 35 years of service to the state.

The award evaluates:

  1. The individual’s competence and integrity in fulfilling their official duties.
  2. Significant contributions made toward the growth and development of their respective institutions.

In a move to streamline the process, the Committee announced that nominations can only be submitted digitally this year. Applications must be filed through the "Form Submission" portal on the official President’s Office website.

The award serves as a national-level tribute to those who have dedicated the majority of their professional lives to the advancement of the Maldivian state and its citizens.
